The Wall Street Reform Act passed in July 2010 provided $1 billion to the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to create an emergency homeowner loan program for those struggling to make mortgage payments.
While this program is still in development and is not currently accepting applications from homeowners, HUD has created a website with information on the status of the program as well as any currently-available information about the program.
HUD encourages those who are interested in the emergency homeowners loan program to check the following website often, as the website will be updated as this program is developed and implemented.
